Before & Afters:
What is Buccal Fat Removal? (2:33)
Buccal fat pad removal, also known as cheek fat removal, is a procedure that removes excess fat pads from the cheeks to create a more contoured and symmetrical facial appearance. It is generally used to reduce chubby cheeks (“chipmunk cheeks”) that can be due to genetics or weight gain. It’s performed from inside of the mouth and does not result in visible scars on the face.
How is Submental Liposuction Performed?
All of the areas will be numbed with local anesthesia for comfort during and after the procedure. Only small, inconspicuous puncture sites are required for insertion of the probes and cannulas used in the procedure. Protective skin ports are placed that minimize any trauma to the skin and maximize the ability to heal. Once the areas are numbed adequately, the ultrasonic probes, at specific power settings, are used to treat the planned areas of the face. Low power suction and specialty cannulas remove the unwanted fat and debris to create the contours and shape that are desired. Once the desired facial shaping is achieved, the skin ports are removed and the skin port sites are closed with sutures.
