West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (DATE) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, June 12, 2023.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Presented a proclamation naming June 2023 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

Approved a resolution amending the Interlocal Agreement with the School Board of Palm Beach County for further improvements at Roosevelt Middle School.

CITY ATTORNEY – Approved a resolution authorizing assessment of City liens for $21,708.77 for unpaid water service, sewer service and storm water charges for March 2023; approved a conditional workers’ compensation settlement agreement in the case of Floyd versus the City of West Palm Beach; approved a resolution approving a mediated agreement between the City, CRA and Photographic Centre.

COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY –    Approved a resolution approving an interlocal agreement between the City f West Palm Beach and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) for the funding of the Chase Street and Trinity Place Streetscape project; approved a resolution approving an interlocal agreement for funding the stopgap transit pilot program;

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved an ordinance on first reading after a public hearing to amend the Downtown Master Plan general uses, including modifying and clarifying specific regulations regarding Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and Pharmacies; held two public hearings and approved two ordinances for land use change and zoning changes regarding a planned development at 424 LA Kirksey Street, and approved a third ordinance after a public hearing for development at 424 LA Kirksey Street, 1501 North Dixie Highway and 1515 North Dixie Highway; approved a resolution for the development of Kirksey Commons Commercial Planned Development and granting a waiver and zoning variance; continued a resolution to replat the property at 609 2nd Street to create a plat known as “The Grand” on about 2.54 acres of property.

ENGINEERING – Approved a resolution permitting installation of improvements in the rights-of-way and approving a Right-of-Way Agreement and related easements for the development at 200 Arkona Court, also known as La Clara;

HOUSING and COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Approved an ordinance after second public hearing authorizing a long-term lease and expansion of the Palm Beach Rowing Association Inc.’s boathouse at Lake Mangonia Park.

PARKS and RECREATION – Approved a resolution accepting and appropriating a $5,000 donation from the Walter & Adi Blum Foundation, Inc., to reimburse the Department of Parks and Recreation for funds used to purchase presents for children who attend schools and programs that serve the Pleasant City community;

POLICE DEPARTMENT – Approved a resolution accepting a donation of a 2010 20-foot cargo trailer from the Big Heart Brigade to be used by the Traffic Motor Unit; approved a resolution funding an interlocal agreement with the City of West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) for the purchase of equipment exclusively for use in the Entertainment District;

Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Approved a resolution approving funding of a façade and exterior improvement grant with Smith Darlene Trust for improvements to property at 437 25th Street in Northwood Village.

Approved a resolution requesting an extension and funding increase for the Parkland on Park, Broward Block Multifamily Project.

Approved a resolution authorizing the CRA to lease residential property at 610 23rd Street.

Approved a resolution adopting amendments to estimates of expenses for Fiscal Year 2023 in the Downtown/CityCenter District and providing funding for the transit pilot program.

Approved a resolution submitted by the City Attorney’s Office to approve the mediation final settlement between the CRA, City of West Palm Beach and Photographic Centre.
