Mayor and City Commission Approvals and Decisions for Monday, August 21, 2023

West Palm Beach City Commission Meeting Approvals and Decisions

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (DATE) – Below is a summary of the approvals and decisions made by the City Commission meeting on Monday, August 31, 2023.

MAYOR’S OFFICE – Mayor Keith A. James proclaimed August 2023 as Black Business Month; approved a resolution for proposed art concepts for Icon Marina Village at 4444 North Flagler Drive to satisfy the public art requirement.

CITY ATTORNEY –  Approved a resolution approving a conditional settlement agreement for $70,000 in the case of Rodlin Coeurvil and Bina Coeurvil  for an accident that occurred on March 21, 2021; approved a conditional settlement for $59,000 in the case of Delores Davis for an accident that occurred on May 23, 2019; approved a resolution assessing liens for $151,517 or unpaid water service, sewer service and storm water charges for May 2023; approved an ordinance after first hearing amending the Boards, Committees and Commissions to remove provisions allowing advisory board members to held meetings remotely through communications media technology.

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES – Approved a resolution providing Transit Village LLC 60 additional days to record the plat approved for the “Transit Village Subdivision” at 134 Clearwater Drive; approved an ordinance after second reading amending the parking requirements for minimum parking for warehousing facilities within the families and small business use category; approved an ordinance after second reading amending Chapter 94, Section 94-302 Fences, Hedges and Walls to prohibit Fences, Hedges and Walls on the east side of Flagler Drive for non-contiguous residential property east of Flagler Drive where the primary residence is west of Flagler Drive; approved an ordinance after second public hearing changing the Future Land Use Map designation from Multifamily (MF) to Commercial (C) at 301 Malvern Road; approved an ordinance after second reading to change the zoning at 301 Malvern Road from Multifamily Medium Density (MF-20) to General Commercial (GC); approved an ordinance after second public hearing to change the Future Land Use Map from Community Service (CS) to Multifamily (MF) at 1400 Henrietta Avenue; approved an ordinance after second public hearing to rezone the land at 1400 Henrietta Avenue from Coleman Park – Community Service (CP-CS) to Coleman Park – Multifamily Low Density (CP-MF-14); approved an ordinance after second public hearing to change the Future Land Use Map from Commercial (C) to Commercial East (CE) at 4801 S. Dixie Highway; and approved an ordinance after a second public hearing changing the zoning designation at 4801 South Dixie Highway from Single Family High Density (SF-14) to Neighborhood Commercial (NC).

FINANCE – Approved a resolution after public hearing, establishing rates for the Fire Service Assessment Fee for fiscal year 2023/2024 and approving the assessment roll; approved a resolution after public hearing adopting the assessment roll for Chronic Nuisance Assessment for fiscal year 2023/2024, which includes properties with unpaid charges for the abatement of code violations and chronic nuisances.

HUMAN RESOURCES – Approved a resolution approving a contract with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Florida Public Services Union (FPSU), CTW, CLC Certified Unit No. 401, for Oct. 1, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2026; approved a resolution approving a contract with the Professional Managers and Supervisors Association (PMSA), Certified Unit No. 1073 for Oct. 1, 2023 through Sept. 30, 2026.   

PUBLIC UTILITIES – Approved a resolution approving participation in the FPL SolarTogether shared solar program; approved a resolution for an agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for utility work in conjunction with the State Road A-1-A (Lake Avenue to Ibis Way) milling and resurfacing project in the Town of Palm Beach; approved a resolution approving submittal to the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection multiple applications to the Resilient Florida Grant Program.
