“I am deeply heartbroken after hearing about Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek’s passing. Congresswoman Meek was a fierce champion of civil rights and an incredible advocate for Haitian immigrants. As a Haitian-American woman, I have been inspired by her tireless fight for the disenfranchised. Her legacy will inspire us all to continue her work for many years to come. I send my sincere condolences to her family during this difficult time” stated Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin.
