The Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to prepare for Hurricane Isaias, residents and businesses are urged to monitor the storm and to stay informed by frequently checking the County’s website for updates. Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grant Program Update

Based on the continued seriousness of the COVID-19 health crisis, the Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council has resolved to continue the suspension the Tourist Development Council (TDC) Grants Program until further notice. This suspension affects both FY 2019-2020 TDC Grants (3rd and 4th Quarters) and the FY 2020-2021 TDC grants process.

The Tourist Development Council views the health, safety, and well-being of our community as its top priority. The TDC will continue to assess the pandemic’s impact, the prospects for safely resuming public programming and events, and consequently, the resumption of the TDC grants program in support of cultural and special events in support of the tourism industry.

The Tourist Development Council and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs will continue to communicate information about status of the TDC grants program. Applicants are encouraged to review the Community Grants Program guidelines, a quarterly program that funds arts and cultural projects, as a potential source of support for their cultural programming.

The Community Grants (CG) Program is a quarterly program for non-profit organizations developing community-based cultural programs, projects, and events, such as fairs, parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences, and publications.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

Miami International Airport
2D Artworks for purchase by Miami-Dade County professional visual artists

Submission Deadline: August 9, 2020, 11:59PM
Eligibility: professional visual artists living and working in Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade Aviation Department’s Division of Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs is seeking existing two-dimensional artworks for purchase from and created by professional visual artists with demonstrated experience in public art and/or with a history of exhibiting artwork at galleries, museums, and alternative art spaces. Works selected for purchase will be included in Miami International Airport’s art collection. Artists may submit up to two works produced within the last three years that will contribute to the facility and engage visitors and employees in unexpected and delightful ways. Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places
Virgin Trains USA West Aventura Station

Submission Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2020, 11:59PM
Budget: $168,000
Eligibility: Open to professional visual artists or artist-led teams based in South Florida

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public Places Program and Miami-Dade County Department Transportation and Public Works request qualifications from professional artists and/or artist teams to commission artworks for the Phase I of the new Virgin Trains USA West Aventura Station – Phase I. The selected artist(s) will design unique artwork(s) that will contribute to the identity of this facility and engage employees, visitors, and passers-by in unexpected and delightful ways. Design teams include Zyscovich Architects and Lemartec construction. Click here to apply.

Virgin Voyages, Terminal V, PortMiami – South Florida

Submission deadline: Monday, August 24, 2020, 11:59PM
Budget:  $995,000
Eligibility: Open to professional visual artists based in South Florida

Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public Places Program and Miami-Dade County, PortMiami and Virgin Voyages request qualifications for artists to be considered to make full proposals for the new Terminal V at PortMiami. Opportunities for public art include a large-scale text-based artwork application to exterior north wall, a suspended lighting feature, integrated sculptural wall applications, and free-standing artist designed-planters for the terminal’s interior and exterior.
