Single-tracking for service improvements and safety

The Dept. of Transportation and Public Works is actively working on maintaining and upgrading Metrorailโ€™s tracks and guideway to improve safety and reliability for Miami-Dade Transit riders. The work is extensive, meticulous and time-consuming, and not all of it can be completed after service hours. Single-tracking allows the work to be performed safely on weekends and after 8 p.m. on weekdays.ย

Single-tracking is an industrywide practice that allows regular track maintenance and upgrades to be installed safely while minimizing service impacts. Single-tracking is sometimes necessary due to construction work happening near the tracks by another agency or private contractor.

Single-tracking is necessary for the maintenance of the Metrorail system, as well as for its improvements and upgrades. During single-tracking hours, changes in service may cause delays and inconvenience riders. DTPW appreciates your patience during these times.

Miami-Dade Transit riders are encouraged to sign up to receive Metrorail service updates, follow @GoMaimiDade, or download the GO Miami-Dade Transit app for all the latest Metrorail service information.
