Single-tracking for service improvements and safety

The Dept. of Transportation and Public Works is actively working on maintaining and upgrading Metrorail’s tracks and guideway to improve safety and reliability for Miami-Dade Transit riders. The work is extensive, meticulous and time-consuming, and not all of it can be completed after service hours. Single-tracking allows the work to be performed safely on weekends and after 8 p.m. on weekdays.

Single-tracking is an industrywide practice that allows regular track maintenance and upgrades to be installed safely while minimizing service impacts. Single-tracking is sometimes necessary due to construction work happening near the tracks by another agency or private contractor.

Single-tracking is necessary for the maintenance of the Metrorail system, as well as for its improvements and upgrades. During single-tracking hours, changes in service may cause delays and inconvenience riders. DTPW appreciates your patience during these times.

Miami-Dade Transit riders are encouraged to sign up to receive Metrorail service updates, follow @GoMaimiDade, or download the GO Miami-Dade Transit app for all the latest Metrorail service information.
