WASHINGTON, D.C. — Friday, Representatives Carlos Gimenez (FL-28), María Elvira Salazar (FL-27), and Mario Diaz Balart (FL-26), along with Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL), denounce the Biden Administration’s failure to designate Cuba as a "not fully cooperating country" (NFCC) with U.S. counterterrorism efforts:"Like so many in my community, I was born in Cuba and was forced from home shortly after the Communist takeover. President Biden’s latest pathetic concession to the murderous, terrorist Castro regime is not only unwarranted and misguided, but dangerous for America’s national security,” said Rep. Gimenez. “Just last week, Raul Castro’s puppet president Miguel Diaz-Canel was in Moscow meeting with Putin and conscripting mercenaries to fight in Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. This is the very same regime that actively supports terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, the ELN, and FARC among so many others. Why on earth would President Biden continue to reward Havana’s military dictatorship with concession after concession when the Castro regime continues to undermine America’s national security, threaten our allies, and engage with terrorist groups around the globe? I urge President Biden and his handlers to abandon this shortsighted policy of concessions and treat Communist Cuba like the international pariah state that it is,” Originally published at https://gimenez.house.gov/2024/5/south-florida-members-of-congress-denounce-biden-administration-cuba-policy
